ABOUT ISVARA YOGA
Babs Lehner-Platts, founder of isvarayoga, has been involved
in teaching fitness and dance from an early age and it eventually
became her career. After traveling the world as a professional
dancer for a few years, she qualified in teaching Aerobics, Dance
and lots of other types of fitness classes.
She also successfully completed a 2-year course by the University
of Surrey and earned her ‘Certificate of Education’
with Distinction. After becoming certified in Power ChiYoga with
Ian Fox and Fitness Yoga with Rachael Holmes, Babs began to develop
her very own unique and personal teaching style. Her inspiration
comes from international teachers, such as Shiva Rea, Mohini Chatlani,
Seane Corne, Howard Napper and David Svenson and her ongoing studies
include different practices of yoga, from Kundalini to Vinyasa
Flow, Hatha to Ashtanga and meditation.
After in-depth studies and earning her Birthlight Diploma in
Pre-and Postnatal Yoga, Babs then expanded into teaching Pregnancy
Yoga and classes for Mums and their babies. In collaboration with
a highly qualified and experienced midwife, isvarayoga also offers
birth preparation courses as well as one-to-one sessions.
While
keeping classes very diverse and a lot of fun, Babs encourages
every student to remain mindfully focused toward internal exploration
as a guide to experiencing yoga as it is meant to be practiced
– as a union of body and mind. Her clients’ ages range
from babies of 6 weeks to 80 years and require extremely flexible
teaching skills and a very comprehensive subject knowledge.
Babs is constantly widening her experience by attending workshops
and always strives to keep up-to-date with the latest developments
in Yoga and Fitness Science. Her most recent involvement is teaching
Yoga Therapy at a rehabilitation centre for people suffering from
various addictions, which has truly helped her grow as an intuitive
and sympathetic Yoga instructor. Babs also organizes holistic
workshops and fitness holidays in Europe (currently Germany, Spain,
soon also Morocco and Egypt).
Babs’ vision is to increase the isvarayoga class schedule
by working in collaboration with other Yoga instructors and to
produce her own Power Yoga DVD.
